Louise Gridley (Sugi Ceramics) designed a schools’ outreach programme to accompany the Abbey 1000 celebrations for young people to learn about the town’s rich heritage. Local schools visited Moyse’s Hall Museum, Bury Town Guides, St Edmundsbury Cathedral and the Guildhall where local trials were re-enacted by Students. Over 270 students paraded through the town to escort historic criminal William Corder to the gallows. In a creative showcase, Corder met his fate whilst schools shared their learning through singing, dancing, acting and the spoken word.
