SCHOOLS & TEACHERS
As a professional artist and Secondary school Art Teacher (since 2001), I am qualified to work with children of all ages. I can deliver workshops in your school to whole classes. If you do not have a kiln on site, a kiln-firing service is available. Alternatively, we can work with air-drying clay.
Choose from a variety of outcomes which are dependent upon the age and mix of your group. Outcomes are flexible and negotiable; I am happy to discuss any specific ideas or themes that you may have so that the lessons link to your specific curriculum requirements.
I have developed a Ceramics CPD training session to equip teachers with the knowledge and skills needed to deliver ceramics education within the classroom. The CPD workshop focuses on the decorative uses of clay in the classroom and covers the following areas:
-
Ceramics materials
-
Clay bodies & firing temperatures
-
Recycling clay
-
Coiling techniques
-
Slabbing techniques
-
Surface pattern & texture
-
Applying surface decoration
-
Slips, oxides & glazes
The aims of the session are as follows:
-
Reinstate the discipline of ceramics within Primary education
-
Introduce ceramics materials, techniques and processes, cost-saving tips
-
Expand on teacher knowledge, skills and confidence
-
Develop a set of classroom resources to support ceramics provision
All materials are child-safe and non toxic. Please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss your school’s requirements.
